GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Greenville Police Department said a pedestrian bridge in downtown Greenville is getting a new coat of paint.

Routine maintenance will begin on the bridge behind in the Peace Center this week. Officials said Southern Paint will be stripping old paint from the upper portion of the bridge and repainting it.

The bridge is expected to remain open during maintenance to the upper portion.

After the Red, White and Blue event on July 4, work is expected to begin on the lower portion and bridge deck.

The bridge will be temporarily closed during this work.
