Race to benefit fallen officer's family postponed at Travelers Rest Speedway

TRAVELERS REST, SC (FOX Carolina) -

On July 8 drivers will race at the Travelers Rest Speedway in honor of fallen Greenville officer Allen Jacobs.

Jacobs was killed in the line of duty in March 2016 while on patrol in the Nicholtown community.

The Greenville County Sheriff's Office said a portion of the proceeds for the race will go to benefit Jacobs' family. He is survived by wife Meghan Jacobs, sons Michael and Dillon, and baby daughter Lennox.

The event is also set to include fireworks.

Gates open at 4 p.m. and the race is slated for 7 p.m.

The race was originally scheduled for Monday, July 3 but postponed to Saturday, July 8.
