Driver killed in crash on SC 72 in Abbeville Co.

ABBEVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that killed a driver in Abbeville County Monday night.

According to Trooper Joe Hovis, the collision occurred around 9:10 p.m. on SC-72, just east of Abbeville.

Highway Patrol reports a 2002 Ford SUV was traveling west, when the vehicle crossed the center line, ran off the left side of the road, and overturned.

The driver was not wearing a seatbelt, and was ejected from the vehicle.

He was later identified as 55-year-old Charles Dubois of Ware Shoals. He suffered blunt force trauma and died at the scene.

The Highway Patrol is still investigating.
