ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

When the Greenville Drive takes on Asheville on Thursday, the Tourists will make good on a baseball bet from 2016.

It started as a joke form the Greenville team - calling Asheville players "hippies." The teams ultimately made a deal that whoever won the most head-to-head contests in 2016 would be declared the winner. The loser would have to wear a specialty jersey for one game this season.

If Greenville lost, the Drive would have become the "Rednecks."

The teams ended up tying 12-12 and the Tourists considered it a loss, agreeing to keep their deal.

“If poking a little fun at ourselves will help raise money for those in need, then I’m all for it,” said Asheville Tourists President Brian DeWine.

On Thursday when the Tourists face the Drive at home, they will wear custom tie-dye "Hippies" jerseys and caps.

A limited number of the apparel items are available at McCormick Field and online.
