WELLFORD, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office was called to investigate a violent domestic disturbance on Monday night.

Deputies said the suspect, 22-year-old Chance James Finley, came home after a night of drinking and injured his hand trying to swat a wasp nest. The victim, a woman who is 30 weeks pregnant, told him he should seek medical attention for a cut on his hand.

According to the incident report, Finley became upset and grabbed the woman by the throat and punching her in the head. He is also accused of dragging her to another room of the house where he tried to use a pair of boxers to cover her mouth, telling her to stop screaming.

The victim told deputies he began hitting and squeezing her stomach, and held her by the hair while he tried to kick her in the stomach.

Deputies said the victim begged him to stop but Finley grabbed a pair of keys, aiming them at her face and stomach. The victim told him, "I'll do whatever you want don't hurt my baby."

The report states that he said he would let her go if she took him to get a beer, but then grabbed a box cutter and said "I'm going out in a blaze of glory."

Finley began cutting himself before breaking both cell phones in the home, deputies said. The victim said he told her, "you will be the reason our baby grows up without a dad."

It took the victim approximately an hour to escape the abuse and run to a nearby home for help, according to the report.

Deputies noted in the report that she had visible injuries to her face, including a busted lip, a cut on her left eye, bruising and a neck scratch.

The neighbors who helped the victim told deputies they jumped out of bed when they heard her screaming for help. The report states Finley followed the victim to the neighboring residence, beating on the door and driving a van around the property.

Deputies said Finley refused to answer questions and joked about the situation, saying, "I'm ready to go let's go."

Finley was arrested and charged with kidnapping, first-degree domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and malicious injury to personal property.

He is currently being held at the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
