GOOSE CREEK, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help support an Upstate man who dedicated his life to public service.

Robby Brannon, a firefighter for more than 25 years, has served with the South Greenville Fire Department, Clear Springs Fire and Rescue and the Old Fort Fire Department. Brannon is also an EMT and teaches at the South Carolina Fire Academy. He is also employed at the Goose Creek City Fire Department.

Brannon's wife, Kayla Brannon, said on June 23, her hsuabnd's life was changed when he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer which has metastasized to his lungs, liver, hips and right femur. Doctors are also watching two spots in his skull to see if they are cancerous, she said.

She said her husband started experiencing back pain which he thought was the normal pains of being a firemen, but after a few visits to the doctor they discovered he had cancer.

Kayla Brannon said her husband is now unable to work during his battle with cancer. He has been out of work for about a month.

"We have a long road ahead of us," she said.

Kayla Brannon said doctors are not sure what kind of cancer he has at this point, but a biopsy which was done on Monday will likely reveal the type of cancer he has.

She has also taken time off of work to take care of her husband, she said.

A GoFundMe has been set up on behalf of the Brannon family to raise money for his medical bills and sustain them while they are both out of work. Click here to contribute.
