GREER, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Rising high school seniors in Cherokee, Spartanburg, and Greenville counties will tour BMW and test their driving skills on Wednesday.

The two-week Academic Outreach Camp sponsored by the University of South Carolina Upstate, BMW Manufacturing, Spartanburg Regional Healthcare and American Credit Acceptance, will allow 30 seniors to showcase their math and science skills.

Campers will tour BMW Manufacturing and visit the BMW Performance Center track in Greer from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., testing acceleration, braking, and turning capabilities under different road conditions.

These seniors from across the Upstate will also use catapults, toy cars and paper helicopters to test various theories and learn ways to improve functions, process and results.

Participating high schools include Boiling Spring High School, Southside and Riverside, just to name a few.

The camp ends Friday, June 30 with student team presentations at the Chapman Cultural Center for educators and family.
