SIMPSONVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

During a Simpsonville City Council meeting on Tuesday, the city's budget passed its second and final reading. The new budged will bring changes to the city's trash collection, which was privatized in the summer of 2016.

ACE Environmental, the company contracted to handle trash collection, will continue conducting pickup but trash collection is being discontinued for approximately 122 businesses outside of Simpsonville's "core district."

Trash pickup will continue at mobile home parks but instead of a $34 fee per park, there is now a $34 fee per unit within the park annually. It will impact approximately three mobile home parks, officials said.

ACE was previously handling brush pickup for the city, but this fall the city will reinstate its own brush pickup. Bundling will no longer be required when the change takes effect.
