Muggy conditions take back as the week comes to a close, allowing the return of afternoon showers and storms. We’ll be watching for rain through the holiday weekend.
A southerly wind today helps pump in moisture from both the Atlantic and the Gulf across our area. That will lead to more humid conditions, along with a slight chance for showers by the evening. Highs reach 80 in the mountains and 85 in the Upstate, still several degrees cooler than normal for this time of year.
Friday will be similar, with scattered showers in the morning, followed by storms in the afternoon as highs reach the 70s to low 80s.
Over the weekend, expect dry mornings and scattered storms each afternoon. We'll be watching for lightning and downpours, along with one or two strong to severe storms, though a widespread severe threat is unlikely.
Saturday stays in the low to mid-80s, while Sunday reaches HOT conditions. Highs will warm to near 90 degrees in the Upstate. Toward July 4 it’s looking like classic July weather! It will be hot, humid with a 20% chance for late day storms, and otherwise dry weather.
