GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Greenville County Sheriff held a press conference on Thursday to announce the arrest of an Upstate corrections officer.

Sheriff Will Lewis said Kendall Shon Marlin, a corrections officer at the Greenville County Detention Center, was arrested after delivering half a kilo of methamphetamine to an undercover agent with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division on Tuesday.

SLED, the Sheriff's Office and the Greenville Police Department launched an investigation into Marlin several months earlier, according to Lewis.

Marlin was arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine and due to the volume of the drug, he faces 25 years minimum in prison if convicted, Lewis said.

He was hired by the detention center in May 2004 and terminated after the arrest.

The sheriff said there is no indication Marlin brought contraband into the detention center, and it does not appear any other corrections officers were involved.

After his arrest, Marlin was booked into the Pickens County Detention Center but later transferred to Greenville County Detention Center.
