GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Officials with the Wade Hampton Fire Department said a fire broke out at a home in Greenville on Thursday.

The fire started at a residence on the 300 block of Brownstone Circle off Roper Mountain Road. Officials said it was fully-involved as of 6:30 p.m.

Lt. Cary Cromer of the Wade Hampton Fire Department said two firefighters sustained minor burns from a roof collapse. Cromer said they were treated on scene and released.

The homeowners were not injured in the incident.

Cromer said a total of 4 homes were damaged. One home, where the fire started, was a total loss.

The homeowner was at the residence when the fire started, said Cromer, and immediately called 911. The fire spread rapidly, however.

First responders arrived on scene less than 2 minutes after the fire was called in at 6:26, but by then, Cromer said the fire had already consumed half of one home.

"It it looked like a big fire and it was completely destroying the whole house. When I walked up I was really surprised that the front of the house was destroyed because I heard it happened in the back, so I was stunned that it affected the whole front section, too," said Olga Kurek, who witnessed the fire.

Greenville City Fire Department and Wade Hampton Fire Department both responded to the scene. The fire remains under investigation by Greenville City Fire Department at this time.

The Wade Hampton Fire Department said the two firefighters who suffered minor burns in Thursday's fire plan to return to work on Friday.
