Dispatch: Tree falls on power lines, sparks house fire in Greenville Co.

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville County emergency dispatchers said firefighters were battling a fire at a house sparked by a tree that fell on power lines.

The house fire was reported on Jasmine Drive around 6:20 a.m. Friday.

The homeowner told out crew at the scene that he heard a loud crash, followed by some popping and crackling before the lights went out. When he went outside to see what happened, he saw a flame burning on the roof.

No one was hurt and the fire was put out quickly.

Numerous downed trees were reported in the area Friday morning as heavy rain continued to soak the area.
