Fallen trees block highway, knock out power in Lake Lure

LAKE LURE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

The Lake Lure Police Department said fallen trees were blocking Memorial Highway and had knocked out power in the area Friday morning.

Police said firefighters were working to remove the trees from the road near Homes Road and Highlands Drive.

Duke Energy was reporting more than 1,600 power outages in the area between Bat Cave and Lake Lure along ALT US 74.

The outages were reported at 4:40 a.m. and Duke expects to have service restored by 1:30 p.m.

By a.m. Lake Lure Fire and Rescue reported that one lane of Memorial Highway had reopened.
