Fourth of July weekend continues with more hot and sticky weather with pop-up afternoon thunderstorms.
Storms have developed mainly in northeast GA this afternoon, but additional development is possible. Watch out around local lakes as lightning is happening close to Hartwell now.
Compared to yesterday, today’s thunderstorms won’t be nearly as scattered nor will there be as many of them as high temperatures reach the lower 90s in the Upstate and middle 80s in the mountains.
Tomorrow will be nearly identical to today with similar coverage with any storms that form in the afternoon in both the Upstate and mountains.
Fourth of July itself Tuesday will present a slightly better chance for scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms as a weak disturbance moves in from the west that will move out by Friday, which will then allow our rain chances to back off a bit by then.
Temperatures meanwhile will barely move a muscle and stay near 90 in the Upstate and mid 80s in the mountains with continued high humidity.
