In less than a month, Panthers players will head to Wofford College in Spartanburg for training camp. Cribbs Kitchen's general manager, Steven Horvath says the rush of fans and players helps them through a slow period.

"It definitely helps us kind of get geared up for the season,” explained Horvath. “It not only excites us, but the staff as well."

Chris Jennings with the Spartanburg Convention and Visitors Bureau hopes this year more Spartanburg businesses like Cribb's Kitchen can attract some of those people. "A Day at Panthers Training Camp" flyers have been used to point people in the direction of local hot spots.

"This is one of those key parts of our community and we're very fortunate to have Panthers camp here,” explained Jennings. “Going on 23 years now."

Every year more people come to watch the team practice, meaning more money goes right back into Spartanburg.

According to Jennings, last year the training camp was responsible for more than $13 million in economic impact. Coming off the Panthers Super Bowl appearance, the total number of people nearly doubled from 2015 to 2016 to more than 135,000.

"We're right here at Barnett Park,” explained Jennings. “Across the parking lot is the Chapman cultural center, science museum, history museum, ballet."

Horvath hopes the Panthers will keep their training camp in Spartanburg because of all the exposure it brings for Sparkle City.

"It's great for the area,” said Horvath. “It brings a lot of people that wouldn't really know anything about Spartanburg."
