GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The GHS Cancer Institute was briefly evacuated Monday morning after the fire department said smoke was detected in the building’s break room.

The GHS Cancer Institute is located at 65 International Drive.

Patients and workers exited the building during the brief evacuation.

Chief Mark Jones with the Greenville Fire Department said there was an electrical problem with an air conditioning unit on the roof that caused smoke to get into the air vents.

The fire department was able to shut the unit down quickly and people were allowed back inside once firefighters determined there was no actual fire.
