Deputies: Suspects stealing soap from Upstate Dollar General hit employee with car

SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shoplifting case at Dollar General on Sunday.

Deputies were called to the store on Highway 221 just before noon after a male suspect is accused of entering the store and leaving without paying for the following items:

  • Downy laundry fresheners
  • Suave men's shampoo
  • Dove men's shampoo
  • Axe 2-in-1 shampoo
  • White Rain shampoo
  • Dove exfoliating 6-pack bar soap
  • Dove 6-pack shea bar soap
  • Dove 6-pack sensitive skin bar soap
  • Dove white bar soap
  • Olay 6-pack bar soap
  • Dial 10-pack bar soap
  • Dial 6-pack bar soap
  • Conair hair dryers
  • Conair basic hair cut
  • Conair hair cut custom
  • Conair hair cut 20-piece
  • Conair trimmers
  • Gilden 10-pack socks
  • Hanes underwear packs
  • Haynes medium underwear packs
  • Tide pods, 31 count
  • Four pairs of men's flip flops
  • Four pairs of women's flip flops

Deputies said a manager at the store followed the suspect out to his car but was shoved by the suspect when trying to get a license plate number. She said a female occupant was inside the vehicle.

When the vehicle was backing up, deputies said the employee was struck in the leg by the car before the suspects fled the scene. No arrests have been made in the case.

Deputies said video footage of the incident was placed into evidence.
