JOANNA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Laurens County Sheriff said a search for a missing child ended in the arrest of two of his relatives Monday evening.

Deputies said  they began investigating Monday afternoon after the 11-year-old went missing from his home on Pickens Street. The boy was last seen around noon and deputies said they were notified of the disappearance around 4:10 p.m.

An active search was underway in the Joanna area with the agency's bloodhound unit assisting.

Around 7:20 p.m., deputies said the child had been safely located.

Sheriff Don Reynolds said two of the child's relatives were arrested. He said the pair showed up to the house with the boy and no one knew he was with them.

Sheriff Reynolds said the relatives were on drugs.

Reynolds said DSS was  called to take custody of the boy, who has Asperger's Syndrome and was being watched by his grandmother when two distant relatives allegedly drove by the house and the boy went off with them

Reynolds said the house was also filthy, filled with feces, and had about a dozen animals living in it, making it unfit for the child.

On Tuesday, deputies identified the arrested family members as Mark Thomas Conner and Connie Baker-Felker.

Conner was charged with breach of peace, possession of marijuana or hash, and driving under suspension.

Baker-Felker was charged with possession of marijuana or hash.

On Tuesday, deputies filed an additional charge of unlawful conduct toward a child against both suspects.

During a bond hearing on Tuesday Conner was given a total cash surety bond of $6,519. Baker-Felker was given a total $5,615 cash surety bond.

Officials say Baker-Felker's little girl was with the pair while they were smoking marijuana. A great aunt of the family now has the little girl in her care.
