Fire crews rescue pregnant woman, child after stranded on island in NC

LAKE LURE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Fire officials say they were able to rescue a pregnant woman and her child after they became stranded on an island Tuesday afternoon.

The woman and her 5-year-old child were tubing down the Rocky Broad River when they ended up stranded on an island area, per Billy Dalton of the Bills Creek Fire Department,

Dalton said the call came in around 2 p.m. and fire crews were able to bring the pregnant mother and her child to safety with no injuries.

The Lake Lure Fire Department assisted with the swift water rescue.
