ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Anderson County coroner responded to a scene on Richmond Avenue after calls of a body found in the area.

Coroner Don McCown confirms he was called to Richmond Avenue and E Shockley Ferry Road Tuesday afternoon.

Our FOX Carolina crew on scene said Richmond Avenue was taped off as investigators processed the scene and met with the family of the victim.

Coroner McCown identified the body as that of 56-year-old Jesse Lee Alexander. Alexander was homeless, he said.

The man would have turned 57 on Wednesday.

There were no signs of foul play, the coroner confirms.

An active investigation is underway.

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
