Hot and humid conditions will dominate for the rest of the week, but the storm threat should slowly go down by the weekend.
Today will bring another hot day with highs in the mid 80s to low 90s, with heat index values 96 - 101 degrees. Scattered storms should flare up by lunch in the mountains with isolated, yet intense storms possibly developing into the Upstate by mid-afternoon.
A marginal risk for severe weather lingers for those in the mountains, as well as those in the Upstate and NE Georgia along and north of the I-85 line. Damaging wind, downpours, and frequent lightning are possible.
Friday will be another hot and muggy day, with isolated to scattered storms in the afternoon.
This weekend will bring lessening storm chances, possibly becoming completely rain-free by Sunday and most of Monday!
We’re also watching the Atlantic as a new tropical depression has formed. It's still far off in the Atlantic, but you can read more on this system HERE.
