FRANKLIN, NC (FOX Carolina) -

A Franklin man was sentenced to jail time on Thursday for setting wildfires because "wanted to see something burn."

Keith Mann was arrested in 2016 after U.S. Forest Service agents said he set fires two fires in Macon County and called 911 to report one of them. The wildfires burned 16 acres.

"I was just bored," Mann told agents.

On Thursday, court documents revealed five additional fires were set near the first wildfire but were extinguished on their own. Investigators located a cardboard box and matches nearby to determine the fires were intentional.

Mann pleaded guilty in March 2017 to a federal arson charge and was sentenced to five years in prison without the possibility of parole for destroying real property of the U.S. by means for fire. He will also serve three years under court supervision
