SENECA, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Seneca Police Department said a man has been charged with murder after a deadly shooting at an apartment complex on Thursday.

A shooting was reported at Seneca Garden Apartments around 1:20 p.m., according to Chief John Covington.

When officers arrived on scene, Covington said they found the body of a male victim on the ground. The Oconee County Coroner's Office identified as 28-year-old Ricky Antonio Nickles.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday. The coroner said Nickles suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Covington said a suspect was taken into custody after running several yards away from the shooting but collapsing near a doorstep of one of the units.

The suspect was identified as 31-year-old Keena Jerome Brown. Brown was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

The incident was the result of a personal dispute between Brown and Nickles, Covington said.

According to Brown's arrest history, he has previously faced charges of armed robbery, burglary, assault and battery first degree, and weapons offenses.

Brown appeared in bond court on Friday where he was denied bond.

In a press conference on Friday, the victim's father, Rick Nickles Sr., called for justice for his son and support for the victim's children.

“I want to see justice for my son,” Nickles Sr. said. “Doing everything I can to bring this guy to justice for harming my child.”
