SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies said a woman has been charged with attempted murder after a shooting and standoff early Friday morning in Spartanburg County.

The shooting was reported around 2:20 a.m. at an apartment complex on Bonner Road.

Deputies said EMS was first called and found a woman who had been shot in the leg. The woman was taken to the hospital in stable condition. Deputies said she said she had been shot by her girlfriend, Tekaria Stockton, after several days or arguing.

Deputies said Stockton was barricaded in an upstairs apartment. Negotiators were called in.

Nicole Sullivan, a neighbor at the apartment complex, said deputies were in a standoff with the suspect, who was in an apartment. Sullivan said deputies used a smoke bomb to apprehend the suspect.

Deputies said Stockton was taken into custody without incident about an hour after negotiations began.
