Cruise-in to benefit family of fallen Anderson Co. deputy

ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Anderson County community is hosting an event on Saturday to raise money for the family of a fallen deputy.

Deputy Devin Hodges, 30, died on June 1 after a boating accident on Lake Hartwell. Hodges was participating in a joint training session with the U.S. Corps of Engineers as part of the county's marine patrol unit.

The fallen deputy is survived by a wife and children.

On Saturday, July 8 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., a benefit for the Hodges family will be held at the balloon launch field across from the Anderson Civic Center.

The event, sponsored by Subconscious Auto Club and Snapdragons Screen Printing, is set to feature a cruise-in of cars, trucks, and motorcycles. The event will also include music, inflatables, hot dog plates and appearances from Hello Kitty and SpongeBob.

Proceeds from the event will go to support the Hodges.
