GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Breakwater on South Main Street announced it is closing its doors in Greenville.

The popular restaurant and bar in the West End previously closed in July 2016 but reopened at the end of the year "with a slightly modified format that we feel is more in line with the needs of the downtown market," according to its website.

In a Facebook post on Thursday night, Breakwater said it has sold its space at 802 South Main to new owners who will be renovating the location for a new concept.

Their last night open was Saturday.

On Tuesday, Otto Izakaya confirmed it is opening a second location in the space. The owners of the sushi restaurant also own Lieu's Chinese bistro, both of which operate off Woodruff Road.

The owners said they are very excited about plans to open the downtown location in the fall of 2017.
