GAFFNEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Gaffney Police Department said the misuse of fireworks on July Fourth led to the injury of a teenager.

According to Lt. Ron Ramsey, more than 100 teens were shooting Roman candles at one another during a "fireworks war" in the area of Granite Drive.

One teenager's hand was injured during the incident, Ramsey said.

The teen was transported out of the area where fireworks were being set off to meet EMS so he could be transported via ambulance to the hospital. The extent of his injuries is unknown.

When police responded to the scene, Ramsey said fireworks were shot in the direction of officers and their patrol cars, but none were hurt.

No arrests were made in connection with the incident.
