SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Deputies said a teenager who went missing from Spartanburg County has been located in California.

Master Deputy Darren Dukes of the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office said 16-year-old Tyler Aaron St. Louis left his home in Spartanburg County early Sunday morning.

Dukes said St. Louis left in a gray 2016 Nissan Altima with an SC tag that read "MUH-989." Deputies believe the teen had been in the Pelzer area a few hours after leaving home and deputies thought he may have been heading to Cochran, GA.

Deputies said the teen had previously made comments about harming himself and is possibly in possession of a firearm.

On Wednesday morning, deputies announced that Tyler had been found in San Diego, CA.

Lt. Kevin Bobo said Tyler flagged down a police officer once he ran out of money.

Bobo said Tyler's parents were en route to California to pick up the teen.
