UNION, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Union Police Department said a man is in custody after an assault on Sunday.

Police were dispatched to a home on James Street around 2:30 a.m., although the incident had occurred earlier in the week on Toluca Street.

According to the police report, a woman at the residence told officers she had been verbally and physically abused by 19-year-old Karell Thompson on multiple occasions.

Officers said when the victim confronted Thompson about Facebook messages involving another female, Thompson punched her in the head and choked her.

Police noted in the incident report that there were visible marks on the side of the victim's face.

Thompson is also accused of threatening to kill her and blow up her mother's home. Police said the threats were made on the phone with the victim while officers were on scene.

Officers said they found Thompson walking, shirtless and sweating profusely, near Toluca Street. According to the police report, Thompson admitted the victim suffered injuries during a "scuffle" but said he was walking to see her to apologize.

Thompson was placed under arrest for domestic violence.
