BELTON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

An elderly man was sent to the hospital following a strong-armed robbery at his Upstate home on Tuesday, per police.

Police Chief Thomas Clamp said a few people were inside the elderly man’s home located on the 100 block of Tollison Street at 9:30 a.m. when the man’s wallet was stolen. The 72-year-old was struck in the head with some type of blunt object, the chief continued.

Chief Clamp believes the man and the subjects were acquaintances. He is not sure why they were at the home at that time.

The victim was taken to the hospital but has since been released.

No suspects have been identified.
