The Henderson County Sheriff's Office said a sheriff's deputy was arrested Tuesday after a domestic incident.

The Asheville Police Department was dispatched to a call around 6:30 p.m. which resulted in the arrest of 39-year-old Cory Thomas Burton.

Burton, a resident of Arden, was arrested and charged with assault on a female.

A spokesperson for the Henderson County Sheriff's Office said Burton's employment with the agency was terminated.

Burton was also a former employee of the Asheville Police Department.
