ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Anderson County Sheriff's Office said a chase suspect is in custody after an incident on Tuesday night.

A deputy on patrol near Circle Road spotted a Dodge Avenger with a license plate registered to a Nissan Maxima just before 11 p.m.

According to the incident report, when a traffic stop was initiated the driver accelerated. A chase continued onto Bromwell Way, Benton Park Road, Circle Road, Piedmont Road and River Road with speeds reaching up to 85 miles per hour.

Deputies said the car crashed and overturned near River Road and the driver, later identified as 28-year-old John Michael Neese, tried to climb out the driver side window. A female passenger was inside the car as well.

Neese, who deputies said also had an active warrant for failure to pay support, was taken into custody and transported to the hospital for treatment.

He is charged with driving under suspension, failure to stop for blue light and improper vehicle license.
