Firefighters suffer heat exhaustion battling Buncombe Co. fire

ASHEVILLE, NC (FOX Carolina) -

The Buncombe County Fire Department confirmed firefighters were called to the scene of a house fire on Thursday.

The fire broke out at a residence on Woodland Drive. Just before 4 p.m., officials said crews had been on scene for three hours already. The home was destroyed in the blaze.

Multiple firefighters at the scene were transported to the hospital for heat exhaustion.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
