SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Win or lose, Zion Williamston was stealing hearts at the opening day of the Adidas Uprising tournament.

"The fact that Drake gave him a shout out was just wow,” said one fan.

Cameras were rolling and the crowd snapped pictures of the South Carolina high school legend.

"I think he has a good head on his shoulders and he can only go up from here," said Tiana White.

Even those on competing teams, packed into the stands to watch it all go down.

"It’s unbelievable. He's so Lebron-like," said an Arizona teammate.

Zion's classmates agree. They said there's a lot of talent in the Upstate, and they're hoping to watch some close friends make it big.

"I feel like just watching the talent and just how hard these guys work and seeing them put their efforts out on the court like that, I think it's really inspiring," said Alexis Bayiha.

It wasn't just Zion leaving everything on the court. With big names like Frank Martin and John Calipari watching, every young athlete on the court said they were bringing out all the stops, hoping to turn a few heads.

"I would like to attend Clemson University or any D1 school that offers me," said player Carlos Allen.

"I'm here for the hype, honestly,” a fan said. “It's just exciting."

That hype also drew in scores of out-of-towners, excited to see what Spartanburg has to offer.

"I like the environment, good weather,” White said. “Well better weather than Arizona."

But many maintained a sense of business during the trip. The game came first for them.

"It’s a ton of work with day in and day out practice and work outs,” said Allen.

But for Zion Williamson, it was all about doing what he does best - putting points on the board.
