VOLUSIA COUNTY, FL (FOX Carolina) -

Charges are pending against an Upstate man after an early morning fatal crash in Florida on Sunday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 28-year-old Alex Edward Jamison of Simpsonville was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-95 in Volusia County when he struck a vehicle traveling the correct way, head-on.

Jamison was driving a Ford Pickup truck when he struck a driver in a Toyota Prius head-on around 1:55 a.m., officials say.

The driver in the Toyota was seriously injured in the collision. The single passenger in the car was fatally injured, officials say.

The identity of the 21-year-old female passenger has not yet been released.

Jamison’s pickup truck overturned following the collision and he was able to get out of the vehicle on his own. He suffered minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
