GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Cleveland Park reopened Monday morning after flooding forced Greenville police to close the park overnight but a portion of the playground remained closed.

Greenville police tweeted just after midnight Monday that the park was closed after heavy storms dumped rain throughout the Upstate.

The baseball fields and other areas were flooded. The Reedy River was also high, but National Weather Service officials said the water crested before reaching flood level.

By 5:35 a.m., Cleveland Park had reopened.

One section of Cleveland Parks playground remained closed Monday morning as crews worked to dry the area and sanitize the playground equipment.

Officials said the playground closest to Shelter 29 near the entrance to the Greenville Zoo was affected.

The playground is expected to reopen Monday afternoon.
