OLD FORT, NC (FOX Carolina) -

The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office said a registered sex offender faces new charges after he used social media to try and lure an undercover deputy posing as a 15-year-old boy to a meeting place.

Deputies said Monday they had charged Alvin Lewis Pack, 33, of Mount Hebron Road with solicitation by computer, sex offender registry violation (failure to disclose online identifiers), and first-degree forcible sex offense.
Pack had multiple social media accounts that deputies said he opened with email addresses he had not disclosed to the Sheriff’s Office, which is a violation of the North Carolina’s sex offender registry law.
Deputies said on June 30, Pack used one of those accounts to try and lure a person he believed to be a 15-year-old boy to a meeting place, not realizing he was communicating with an undercover detective.

Deputies said the forcible sex assault charge stems from allegations that Pack forcibly sexually assaulted a 23-year-old male acquaintance in July 2016.
Pack was convicted of taking indecent liberties with a child in Buncombe County in March 2010, and another count in McDowell County in January 2011.
