WELLFORD, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office said a man who was hiding from arresting deputies in the attic of his home fell through the ceiling and crashed into the floor below.

Deputies said they were initially called to a domestic disturbance on Mary High Drive in Wellford Sunday morning.

Deputies said a man could be heard inside the duplex was refusing to come to the door and would not let his wife answer the door. Children could be heard crying inside.

Eventually, the wife was able to make it outside and deputies entered the home, where they could hear Kyle Young moving about in the attic. Deputies said they also saw the ceiling above them bowing as the man was moving deeper into the attic space.

Deputies said Young refused to come down from the attic and deputies threatened to send a K-9 in after him if he did not. The K-9 was sent in and bit Young, deputies said.

When Young relented and was walking back toward deputies, deputies said the ceiling beneath the attic gave way beneath him and he was arrested by deputies on the lower floor.

Deputies said Young continually stated that nothing happened and he did not know why they were there.

Deputies said neighbors reported hearing loud banging noises, furniture being knocked over, a woman’s screaming, and a man shouting. The commotion reportedly went on for at least an hour.

Young was charged with domestic violence first degree, resisting arrest, and cruelty to police dog, according to online jail records.
