CLEMSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A man has died after being struck by a Norfolk Southern train in the city of Clemson, according to police.

Chief Jimmy Dixon issued a press release saying officers were called to the area of Elm Street and the train trestle over Lake Hartwell around 11:15 p.m. on July 20.

Investigators determined the victim was sitting on one of the train track rails when the train approached. He was not able to get away in time, and was hit by the train, police said.

The victim is a 33-year-old man who is not a Clemson University student, according to police.

The Pickens County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Garcia-Cabrera Crisoforo of Mexico City.

His death remains under investigation by the Clemson City Police Department.
