Troopers: Hwy. 178 shut down in Pickens Co. after car crash ignites gas line

LIBERTY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Highway 178 in Pickens County was blocked after a gas line ignited after it was struck by a car, according to troopers with the SC Highway Patrol.

The incident happened just before 8:30 a.m. near the intersection of Betty Drive.

Troopers said a car ran off the road and hit a utility pole next to the gas line. The car caught on fire and the gas line also ignited, troopers said.

No injuries were reported.

There was no word on when the road would reopen.
