BREVARD, NC (FOX Carolina) -

The Brevard Police Department was called to the scene of a deadly stabbing early Thursday morning.

Officers said around 2:45 a.m., a resident of Washington Avenue called 911 to report a fight happening outside his home.

Police arrived on scene within two minutes where they said they found a deceased stabbing victim. The victim was identified as 18-year-old Saul N. Ayala.

An autopsy was conducted Friday and officers said results are pending the medical examiner's report.

Police Chief John Harris Jr. said the agency is following up on multiple leads in the case including serving a search warrant at a location on West French Broad.

Harris said multiple individuals inside the home had active warrants but none of the charges were related to the stabbing. Some are cooperating with the investigation and some are not, he said. Five were arrested on outstanding warrants.

Officers said the State Bureau of Investigation and Transylvania County deputies are assisting in the death investigation.

On Friday, police said 34-year-old Chadley Tyrone Norris, 28-year-old Connell Dixon Hawkins and 20-year-old James Alexander Ray were charged with first-degree murder in connection with the case.

Anyone with additional tips about the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 828-86-CRIME.
