A mostly sunny, hazy sky today boosts temperature in the 90-97 degree range. Expect heat index values to range from 98-103 degrees in the Upstate and 93-98 degrees in the mountains.
There will be a small chance of a shower or storm in the mountains this afternoon, and if any activity forms, it could become briefly strong.
A chance for storms is back this weekend, but the heat will still be stifling. Saturday will bring isolated PM storms, while Sunday the storms could become more numerous (especially in western NC).
A good chance for rain comes Monday-Tuesday as a front moves into the area. Whether or not the front pushes all the way through is uncertain, but rain chances should at least decrease some by Wednesday & Thursday.
