The oppressive heat wave continues today with afternoon highs in the middle 90s putting heat indices near 103 degrees when factoring in the humidity.
Hot and steamy conditions continue through the afternoon with the best chance of scattered storms/downpours in the mountains. Some of this activity could develop into the northern Upstate (north of I-85) through sunset before weakening.
Tomorrow will remain hot but with a bit more coverage in afternoon thunderstorms which should cool us down a degree or two from today. A front will approach the area early next week and finally provide some better heat relief, but with more afternoon rain and storms.
Highs will back off toward the middle 80s in the mountains and lower 90s in the Upstate during this time, which should continue the rest of the week as rain chances decrease.
