TAYLORS, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office will host the annual Sgt. Brian Donnelly Memorial Safety Awareness Day on Saturday to honor the memory of the fallen deputy and promote safety awareness in the community.

The event will be from 9 a.m. to noon at Edwards Forest Plaza, located at 3241 Wade Hampton Boulevard in Taylors.

Kids can enjoy a meet-and-greet with Greenville County’s K-9s, get an up-close look at a Taylors fire truck, and enjoy a bounce house.

The sheriff’s office said Safe Kids Upstate, the American Red Cross, First Citizens Bank, Mothers against Drunk Driving, and the Phoenix Center will be on hand to provide information and safety materials.

The event will also feature free giveaways.

Sgt. Brian Donnelly passed away in 2013 after serving the Upstate as a law enforcement officer for more than 40 years.
