EASLEY, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Crews are working to clean up after a spill in Pickens County on Sunday.

Easley Fire Department Station 1 fire captain told fox his crews were responding to a confirmed spill in Easley. Pickens County Hazmat team also responded to the incident.

They got the call around 3:43 p.m.

Pierce Womack, Deputy Director for Pickens County Emergency Management, said a fuel company had been pumping fuel from Ingles into an 18-wheeler when an issue with the line cause about 70 gallons to spill.The fire captain said the spill is now contained.

The spill had to be contained quickly due to impending storms, said the captain.

Fire crews put down oil fuel absorbent material and absorbent pads to prevent gas from getting into storm drains, and a separate contractor was called out to clean the spill, per the captain.

Twenty-three personnel in all responded to assist with the spill.

No roads were closed due to the spill being contained inside a parking area, and no injures were reported.
