GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Greenville Police Department on Wednesday released the incident reports detailing the initial officer’s response to the deadly July 13 shooting at the Main + Stone parking garage.

The arriving officer reported seeing the estranged husband of the suspect, Jessica Edens, running toward the car where Meredith Rahme had been shot. The officer reported that the man was crying and attempted to open the door and hug Rahme inside the car. The officer pulled the man away from the vehicle and said he was later identified as Edens' husband and an acquaintance of Rahme.

The officer also found a bullet shell casing under the vehicle.

Both Edens' estranged husband and Rahme resided at Main + Stone.

Greenville police Chief Ken Miller had previously stated 36-year-old Edens shot and killed Rahme, 28, as she was getting out of her car. Edens then fled with her two children inside a black Jeep Patriot to Pickens County.

Deputies in Pickens County said they later found that vehicle parked at the Greenville Pickens Speedway with the bodies of Edens and the children, Harper Edens, age 5, and Hayden King, age 9, inside. They had each been shot in the head.

Pickens County deputies said Edens shot and killed the children and then made one final phone call to her estranged husband while he was in the presence of Greenville police officers. She then turned the gun on herself.

Deputies said Edens stole the gun from her parent’s home on July 12 and sent a series of text messages indicating Edens "developed a plan" that would "cause everlasting consequences" for her estranged husband.
