Sheriff's Office: Wanted sex offender apprehended in Powdersville

ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The Anderson County Sheriff's Office says a wanted fugitive and registered sex offender has been apprehended.

Deputies said 55-year-old Mark Charles Brown was wanted for willful violation of term or condition of electronic monitoring, sex offender registry violation – failure to register 3rd & subsequent offense, violation of probation, driving under suspension, and giving false information to law enforcement..

According to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, he was previously convicted for failure to register in 2011.

Deputies said Brown should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached or engaged under any circumstances.

On Friday, deputies announced that Brown was apprehended around 4:45 p.m. by Anderson County Sheriff's Investigators in cooperation with the Fugitive Task Force from the U.S. Marshals Service, and taken into custody.

He was arrested at a residence in Powdersville without incident.

Deputies said 

The Sheriff's Office thanked the public for tips that assisted in locating and apprehending Brown.

"We greatly value the partnership with our media outlets and the public who help us keep Anderson County safe," said the Sheriff's Office.
