GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville city officials said a new public plaza will be constructed in the Village of West Greenville.

The plaza will provide outdoor gathering space between The Anchorage and Community Journals.

“The Village of West Greenville is fortunate to have an eclectic mix of small businesses, ranging from artist studios to restaurants, as well as a very active business association,” according to Tracy Ramseur, the City’s development coordinator. “They host a variety of free community events, like VILLive concerts and monthly First Fridays, that bring hundreds of people to the Village’s epicenter and the new plaza will serve as the ideal backdrop for those special events.”

The roughly 5,000-square-foot plaza will feature raised planters, catenary lights strung from rooftop to rooftop, cast iron light poles, and public art.

Construction on the plaza began in mid-July and should be finished in October.
