BELTON, SC (FOX Carolina) -

A search is underway in Anderson County for a man deputies have described as an armed suspect at large.

Deputies were searching the Belton area for Juan Trey Beasley of Greenville Friday evening.

Deputies said were responding to a 911 call on Petes Street in Belton. When they arrived, they said a man exited the residence holding a handgun to his head, before fleeing on foot into the woods.

Sheriff's Office K9 teams are tracking Beasley, who deputies said was last seen in the area of Whitten Road and North Major Road.

Beasley is wearing a black shirt and red shorts.

An area-wide telephone call has been placed to residents in the area to be on the lookout for Beasley.

Deputies said K9 units lost the suspect's track while searching the Whitten Road and North Major Road area. His current location is unknown.

Deputies said they will remain in the area throughout the night to ensure the safety of residents.

Dispatchers said around 8:45 p.m. that the search had been called off for Beasley after around 3.5 hours. They said the 911 call was initially placed about a man causing a disturbance at the residence and refusing to leave.

Anyone who sees Beasley is urged to immediately call 911. Deputies say that under no circumstances should individuals attempt to detain or apprehend this person.
