Area law enforcement agencies invite communities to National Night Out celebrations

Law enforcement officers will gather with people in the communities they serve across the country Tuesday night as part of National Night Out.
Several Upstate law enforcement agencies are participating in free National Night out events to celebrate and strengthen partnerships with members of the community.

Greenville police will attend a NNO event from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sterling Center. The following organizations will also be represented: Sterling Land Trust, Sterling Neighborhood Association, Greenville County Rec, TD Bank, Bon Secours Sports Medicine, Sterling Hope Center, Sterling Community Center Youth, Habitat for Humanity, Homes of Hope, Community Works, Human Relations Commission, Greenville County Redevelopment Authority, Greenville Housing Authority, Greenville Fire Department, Greenville Police Department, and several churches.

Mauldin police will attend a NNO event from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the Mauldin Cultural Center. The event will feature music, free food, family entertainment, and a K-9 demonstration.

Greer’s NNO celebration will be from 6 to 8 p.m. in Greer City Park. City departments and Greer CPW will be represented. Attendees can see city vehicles such as the SWAT truck, the meth abatement trailer, and fire trucks. McGruff the Crime Dog will be greeting visitors, kids can enjoy face painting, corn hole and other games with police officers. Two food trucks will also be selling food at the event, officials said.

Simpsonville police will attend a NNO event and cookout at Simpsonville City Park from 6 to 8 p.m. Attendees can enjoy food, sit in the driver's seat of a SPD police cruiser or Simpsonville Fire Truck, try on a Kevlar vest, and more.

Duncan police will attend a National Night Out event from 6 to 9 p.m. The event will feature beverages and an aqua mister to allow folks to keep cool.

Clemson police will host a NNO event from 5 to 7 p.m. at Creekwood Village Apartments, located at 201 West Lane. Events will include a discussion about the upcoming Aug. 21 total solar eclipse.

Spartanburg County: The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office said the Pauline Area Neighborhood Watch will host a NNO event from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Carolina Farm and Wildlife Supply, which is located at 2640 Highway 56 in Pauline.
